Nathaniel Cherry

Nathaniel K. (Nate) Cherry is a member of the firm and has nearly 19 years of experience representing both businesses and individuals in civil litigation matters throughout Tennessee. During his years in practice, he has represented clients ranging from simple property damage disputes up to a complex professional liability case dealing with IRS tax shelters. He has continuously litigated cases to a successful conclusion for his clients, whether through settlement or trial.

Nate’s practice is dedicated to various areas of civil litigation. However, his primary areas of practice include personal injury/wrongful death defense, commercial trucking liability, professional liability, workers’ compensation, insurance coverage/bad faith disputes, premises liability defense, and commercial litigation.

Nate has been successfully defending professional liability claims through Tennessee for over 15 years. He has defended claims against other attorneys, insurance agents, real estate appraisers, title companies, and accountants, to name a few. He regularly consults clients in such areas of the law in order to determine the appropriate course of action from the outset and to determine whether litigation will be necessary.

Nate works with insurance companies on breach of contract claims and also on claims of bad faith by policyholders. He has represented several large insurance companies over the years in handling such matters and advising on whether the carriers’ actions were, in fact, a breach of contract or if said actions amounted to more than just a simple breach and possible worries of actual bad faith.

Nate represents some of the largest employers in Tennessee in the area of workers’ compensation. He has handled well over 1,000 workers’ compensation cases in his career, successfully litigating and trying such cases when necessary. He regularly advises employers and insurance carriers on issues related to workers’ compensation claims and makes himself available to teach seminars on topics in this area.

Nate also regularly defends personal injury and wrongful death claims arising from automobile and trucking accidents. He has defended individuals, businesses and large trucking companies over the years. He has also defended major retailers in the area of premises liability.

Nate is also a Rule 31 Listed civil mediator. Although he just started doing mediations recently, he has already successfully mediated complicated death and personal injury cases and is open to mediating any dispute that parties want to bring to him because he enjoys helping others resolve their disputes.

Nate is a graduate of Lambuth University and the University of Tennessee College of Law. He lives in Franklin, Tennessee with his wife and two daughters, who keep him on his toes at all times.
